RM500 for Indonesian Maid??

An Indonesian maid monthly salary is about RM500, and they don't even have a day weekend holiday.

With such salary, can they really save money and bring back Indonesian?

With such salary, can they go Jaya Jusco and shop around? (During my time in UK working as cashier in Sainsbury, I could afford shopping weekly)

With such salary, even they don't spend at all, is it a lot in Indonesian?
No holiday, 24 hr standby, low pay... What is difference with slavery? (other than we can't sell them).

What would my children see from having a Kakak in my house:
1) Kakak have to do all the hard work, coz she is Indon.
2) There is no need for me to do housework, coz i got Kakak. And when I grow up, i just hire another Kakak to do my housework.
3) Parents got public holidays, weekend holidays, annual leave, sick leave and emergency leave, Kakak got nothing. And IT IS FAIR.
4) It is alright to have a people who got no relationship, no similar culture, no similar hobby to live with us, coz parents don't care about housework, I don't care housework, and we only care of our own joy. (Will the children still find the value of "Home"?)

With such environment, what kind of adult the kids will turn to be?

DO YOU WANT YOUR KIDS TO WORK WITH/UNDER THIS KIND OF SLAVERY MINDED PPL IN THE FUTURE?

If you can't afford reasonable pay, then don't hire maid...
If you hire maid, you should treat her like how your boss treat you...

the problem is these maids work with having a mindset of going back home to indonesia at some point, especially when they have reached their target saving. by giving more salary, all u get is less time before ur maid decides to quit and go back to Indon, and then u had to again worry about getting another maid (which of course, not an easy task. time and again loyal maids are hard to find. most quits after a week of working .. most of the time for absolutely no other reason other than laziness).

if u give them a place to stay and food and drink, that RM500 salary is good enough for them to save every month, or even do some shopping. think about it, most of our own salaries will end up at around that figure (RM500) by the end of the month due to petrol, food, car loans, study loans, entertainment, etc. these maids dont have all those burden, and they get free food and drink and accomodation on top of that, and so, RM500 might be small to you but it is a lot to them, especially when converted in Rupiah! just as 500 pounds is a lot if converted to Ringgits, even tho a pay of 500 pounds a month is considered too low in UK!
